Bexleyheath businesses vote YES to a fourth term for the BID
Bexleyheath businesses have spoken, and the answer is a resounding yes.
We are delighted to announce that local businesses have voted in favour of a fourth five-year term for the Bexleyheath Business Improvement District. The result means the BID will continue its work in the town centre from 2026 to 2031.
The result
The ballot closed on Thursday 9 July 2026. Of the votes cast, 76% were in favour of renewal, representing 73% of the total rateable value. It is a clear vote of confidence in the work the BID has delivered over the past fifteen years, and in the plans we have set out for the next five.
To every business that took the time to vote, thank you. This result belongs to you. It reflects a shared belief in what Bexleyheath can be: a thriving, welcoming and successful town centre that people are proud of.
What this means for Bexleyheath
A fourth term means we can keep investing in the things our businesses and community have told us matter most:
Family-friendly events.
A year-round programme that brings footfall to the town centre and gives families a reason to keep coming back.
A town centre that looks its best.
Beautiful floral displays through the warmer months and festive lights that make Bexleyheath sparkle in winter.
Enhanced security.
Continued investment in keeping the town centre a safe place to shop, work and visit.
Promotion and marketing.
Championing Bexleyheath and the brilliant businesses that call it home, and telling that story far and wide.
Support for local businesses.
Practical, hands-on help for the retail, leisure and hospitality businesses that make our town what it is.
Looking ahead
The next five years are about building on strong foundations. Our 2026 to 2031 Business Plan sets out exactly how we will do that, and you can read it in full on our Renewal 2026 page.
Together, we will keep working to make Bexleyheath an even better place to shop, dine, work and visit.
Thank you for your continued support. We cannot wait to show you what comes next.
